Masayoshi Yoshioka 吉岡 正義
MATERIAL FIRST TOUR 2024
Taiwan-France-USA
Artist Masayoshi Yoshioka is from Kanazawa, where he studied ceramics and became a professional ceramicist. He has an appreciation for earth thanks to the training he received, and specializes in earth, glazes and firing, innovatively interpreting traditional “Kutani ware” techniques and committed to promoting traditional Japanese crafts at home and abroad.
In this exhibition, Masayoshi Yoshioka will exhibit the context of traditional Kutani ware, including its powerful colors, unique composition, painting techniques and inscriptions, and reinterpret the contemporary possibilities from his own perspective.
“Soil of the World” is a creative project that began in 2012 to communicate with the world through earth. The exhibition, which was agreed upon four years ago, has been postponed until now, and is scheduled to tour Taiwan, France and the USA in 2024 to exhibit his works, with the first stop being Qingqing Subo in Tainan.

Held an experiential art solo exhibition in which participants touch sand from various locations in the dark and interact with the sand through its texture.
“I believe that all the minerals that fall on the ground are works created by the earth, and in response to these wonderful works, I explore more attractive forms that can be made by human hands, while connecting them with the times and lifestyles. doing.”
This installation touches on Masa-y’s approach to minerals, which is the basis of his work, and allows us to reconsider what ceramics really are.
